About

As a little boy, my Dad said that I was going to be a preacher. He had preached to me at birth and I was raised in a Christian home in Pasadena, California. I listened to my Uncle preach at New Hope Baptist Church in Los Angeles. And I'd seen the way that many African American preachers delivered their sermons. I said to myself, "That's not going to be me!" meaning whooping, hollering, wiping sweat, and screaming at various tones.
